The mighty State Mosque, almost 61,000 m2 of Qatari design with a main prayer hall consisting of 28 large domes and a single minaret 64 meters high, a parking space for over 1,500 cars and its own underground power station. Fellert has, by an invisible touch, transformed this enormous echo chamber into a sound environment comparable with an ordinary living room. A necessity for the advanced sound system built in to make it possible for every single one of the 20,000 worshippers to hear the prayers. All walls of the main prayer hall has been covered with Fellert Alpha, carefully troweled smooth and dyed into the exact colour of the existing walls. The ceiling and the domes under the ladies prayer hall mezzanine has been treated in the same style. Subtile but yet very functional, that’s Fellert.
