Case #13
The extension to Thomas Jefferson’s State Capitol offered many limitations. It was of great importance to preserve the symbol enriched building intact as much as possible, hence, it was therefore decided to build the extension in the underground. The interior demands were still the same and Fellert was assigned to soundproof the ca 1,500 m² large ceiling. The job was of varying character and included a rotunda which is almost impossible to soundproof by traditional methods. To sum it up, it was a complicated project with a simple solution.
