Case #17
Architect: Amy Gill, Restoration of St. Louis
When the historic Blackhawk Hotel in Davenport, Iowa was purchased, the new owner was faced with the challenge of restoring it to its former grandeur, while making sure it was a quiet and relaxing environment for its VIP visitors. The Blackhawk was originally built in 1915, and eventually became a 400 room luxury hotel complete with a fancy frontage, marble accents around the windows, intricate interior detailing and a stained glass skylight in the spacious lobby. During its long history, prominent guests from movie stars to politicians stayed there. The Fellert system for ceilings and walls met all requirements for acoustics, environmental sustainability and cost.
