Noise reduction for Users

It is not always that you are aware of that you have a poor sound environment, which maybe needing noise reduction, in your premises. You simply do not always reflect on that it is a noisy environment, or that it is hard to hear what is said in the room. However, you find yourself having headache, strained voice, or difficulties to focus from time to time. It is far from everyone that is aware of that this is due to a poor sound environment.

Given conditions:A room, which needs noise reduction, with the dimensions of 7 x 10 meters and 2.5 meters in ceiling height. The floor is a parquet floor. Walls and ceiling are made of concrete, covered with double gypsum with underlying 45 mm mineral wool. One wall consists of a larger glass section. There is a larger bar counter, some chairs and tables in the interior. With this layout the reverberation times are between 1.4 − 2 seconds in the frequencies 125 − 4000 Hz. By applying Fellert Alpha to the ceiling instead of painted gypsum the reverberation time is reduced to 0.6 seconds on the average with a variation between 0.3 − 0.8 seconds in the frequencies 125 − 4,000 Hz.

Given conditions:A dining room, which needs noise reduction, with the dimensions of 6 x 15 meters and 2.5 meters in ceiling height. The floor is a stone floor. Two of the walls consist of glass sections and the other two walls are painted concrete surfaces, likewise is the ceiling. There is a larger bar counter, a number of chairs and tables in the interior. With this layout the reverberation times are between 1.9 − 2.9 seconds in the frequencies 125 − 4,000 Hz. By applying Fellert Alpha to the ceiling the reverberation time is reduced to 0.7 seconds on the average with a variation between 0.4 − 0.9 seconds in the frequencies 125 − 4,000 Hz.

In addition to healthier and more productive personnel there are a number of winning advantages by having an optimal sound environment. If you for example run a restaurant your guests would appreciate enjoying their meals in a calm and relaxed environment. Not infrequently, there are businesses discussed at the tables and it is much appreciated to do so without having difficulties to hear what is being said.

It is not remotely to presume that you receive more guests in a restaurant with an optimal sound environment than with a poor. There are consequently financial profits to gain by having an optimal sound environment.

Acoustical ceilings do not have to make your premises look different from the original appearance. There are solutions on the market that allows you to receive a ceiling with the exact same appearance as your existing ceiling in your premise. Make sure to choose an alternative like that.

Acoustical ceilings consist of sound absorbents which in their turn consist of porous material to be able to catch the energy in the sound-waves and convert them into heat. As time passes, dirt will get stuck into your ceiling and damages could occur. Please make sure that the acoustical ceiling is antistatic, easy to clean, maintain and repair.

About acoustics

For a person who is not familiar with the whole concept of acoustics it is jungle of technical terms, methods of measurement and standards. That is why we have chosen to leave that out and instead move on to what is of more interest. This is the way it is: High-frequent sounds such as shouting, rattling and scrapings, and sounds from high heels on a parquet floor, are fairly easy to attenuate. All products on the market are able to attenuate these sounds, or you could go ahead and do it yourself. It is just to put a carpet in the ceiling and the problem is solved. The real challenge to sound absorptive materials are low-frequent sounds such as dark voices, muffled footsteps, distant traffic sounds and continuous sounds such as buzzing fans. Some products on the market are able to handle this with reasonable results; however, the problem is that these installations require a very large construction height which is most often not possible due to technical reasons.

Fellert Acoustic System is unique in reference to that it manages to absorb sounds in the lower frequencies without the need of an underlying air gap.
